This in-school project was to design and come up with a salt and pepper shaker that you would not normally see. I decided to sketch a few ideas that I had. 

I wanted to make a salt and pepper shaker that would be used for people that were going to be camping. I wanted it to be small, compact and would have both the salt and the pepper in the device to cut down on what was needed when camping.

Above are some of the iterations that I came up with when working with clay. I decided to go with the design that is below because it would allow the user to hang the device on the edge of a table or a branch of a tree. I wanted this due to the lack of table space that is available when camping.

From this form, I made it out of foam to cast to from around.

Next after making the foam model, it was time to cast from silicon. 

The next step was too poor another hard plastic that will form from the mold made.

Since the shaker was symmetrical I did not need to cast the other half and could now thermoform the casting for the part of the final product. I had to make two thermoforms to make the complete product.

To make sure that the two thermoforms matched up I had to form back over the previously made thermoform for the two sides to match up to one another.

After putting the thermoforms together the last step was to paint it to the final product.

This salt and pepper have the ability, where the blue cap is, rotate to either salt or pepper to dispense it. When in the position pictured above, the shaker is locked and does not allow for any spillage.
