Stool Design Inspired from Ancient Egyptian Culture

My participation in DESiGNDUSTRY Second Furniture Design and Manufacturing Project. Object typology is to design one piece of furniture.

Key Features :

Focusing on design soul with strong and unique idea that is depending on the in-depth design concept and NOT focusing on the item’s decoration or any superficial processing for the item’s look and feel. Design should be minimal and focus more on the innovative inspiration from the ancient Egyptian culture.

Keywords :

“form follows function’’ / “less is more”
The main concept is to design a stool whose main lines are inspired by the ancient Egyptian culture, while adding to it a minimalistic abstract feeling.

Clean geometric lines in addition to a bright red color for a contemporary feeling, and the wooden top to add warmth to the design.
Merging two authentic ancient Egyptian symbols :
1. Lord of the Two Lands, a royal title, is represented by the neb glyph, meaning “lord,” and by two lines, representing the “Two Lands” (Egypt).

2. The Cartouche, an elongated version of the shen rope within which two of the king’s names (his birth name and his throne name) were written
The color RED in ancient Egypt is a color of life and protection, derived from the color of blood and the life-supporting power of fire. It symbolized vitality and energy, therefore was commonly used for protective amulets.
Same design, different material, a whole new look.
