The concept of "Umang" aims to cover sustainability from the aspect of environment, society and economy. The idea of Umang came from the Anaupcharik Mahila Shiksha kendra (Informal education center for woman) run by Banasthali Vidhypith.
Through this film, we have tried to show the real faces behind the beautiful crafts, the real Heroes, the crafts-people. They work with the designers in the same way as wrap and weft yarns contribute equally in making beautiful masterpieces of fabrics.
It can be noticed that Eco/Green Fashion acts as a bridge for the upliftment of society by generating the employment. The process of hand-spinning and hand-loom weaving creates a platform for the rural women of 12 villages in the vicinity of Banasthali Vidhyapith to earn livelihood. There is a rhythmic presence of the sound of musical instruments in the film in order to show the similarity between classical music and khadi of Gandhian Era.
The concept and the work lead us winning GREEN FASHION INDIA 2019 under the category of GREEN PROMOTIONAL FILMS 2019.
