KATE SPADE NEW YORK

My design concept for this store is Generation Woman. It is an abstract concept representing today and future generations of women in society. Women in the past were only viewed as home makers, in the media women were portrayed as house wives that were limited to cleaning, cooking, and raising children. The use of black and white colors alludes to the refinement of women in the past whereas the pops pink represents women breaking free from this past societal norm.
Today in a much more colorful world women are company CEO’s, doctors, pilot, free to be whatever they set themselves out to accomplish. The use of stone represents the strength and durability of a woman and the use of carpeting textures is soft feminine, all of these design features represent the modern woman. The lighting is bright and guiding and the abstract design speaks to the woman’s individuality and independence.
