I came across an underserviced market called "the Inbetweeners". They are women approximately size 14-16 and are not serviced by mass market or plus size. The average U.S. woman is a size 14, so why is it uncommon to find clothing that suits this market?
Straight Sizing: perceived as "regular" sizes, spans from a size 0 to 12
Plus Sizing: spans from a size 16 and beyond
Most straight-sized clothes span from a size 0 to 12 and most plus-sized clothes start at a size 16. Even when companies look into tapping into the inbetweener market, the clothing are not graded properly to fit these women. Looking further into the general fashion industry, it was apparent that activewear gave the least amount of choice to this market. Even looking at plus size activewear, the options out there are few and not as colourful or interesting as those for straight sizing.
Autumn/Winter 19/20 Moodboard
Autumn/Winter 19/20 will be drawing inspiration from somewhere that is associated with youth: night clubs and neon lights. With the increase of Millennials choosing the gym over the club on a Friday night, it allows a new take to nightlife through activewear. Even new exercising environments are shifting to be closer to nightlife with booming music and dimmed lights.
