This was a real world application project for my mechanical design class where students were tasked with measuring the thickness of a hook used to support stairs to a recreational vehicle. The safety factor of the hook was in question so we needed to change the thickness of the hook to support the weight of the consumer to a specific safety factor. Pictures 1-4 demonstrate an analysis using the built in Creo Parametric functions and pictures 5-8 show an analysis using NASTRAN.
