The ABC's of PLU
March 6th, 2018

Illustration and design. An educational social justice book that adopted the format of a children’s book, The ABC’s of PLU was the biggest project I took on as the Art Director at The Matrix, a social justice magazine at Pacific Lutheran University.

Paid for by applied funding at PLU, we printed 1,000 copies of the book and distributed them around campus. In illustrating and designing the layout for each article in the 56 page book, I was inspired by the designer Saul Bass. I would often cut out my drawings from paper to give them a more organic feeling because it seemed as though his work did the same. Finishing The ABC's of PLU showed me that I was both versatile as a designer and able to work within a quick time constraint to illustrate and layout the entire book in less than a month.
