PRIMP |  Scaling up PrEP for HIV Prevention

Gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (MSM) account for over half of new HIV infections in Canada every year, with a 131x higher risk of acquiring HIV than other Canadian men. PrEP is a highly effective, safe, well-tolerated and highly acceptable HIV prevention option among MSM, and health systems urgently need to implement PrEP more broadly as part of combination HIV prevention nationwide.

This is an implementation science project where they are working with public health units and sexual health clinics to more routinely recommend HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to gay/bi/MSM who have characteristics that suggest they might be at particularly high risk of getting HIV. Their full study name is: Scaling up PrEP for HIV Prevention: Optimizing strategies for targeting and delivering PrEP to MSM in British Columbia and Ontario.
