DHOOEN CHA BY SILK

This signature blend features black tea originating from China and India. Dhooen in Hindi means engulfed in smoke, and Cha is the Chinese word for tea.

Lapsong Souchong was one of the first tea leaves discovered in China. While Assam is the first region in India to have tea leaves. With Assam being a strong malty base, Lapsang Souchong adds a smoky taste to the tea since the leaves are dried over pinewood fire.

This design takes inspiration from the Tang dynasty. It is the most prominent dynasty in China that had Indian influence. This was during the peak of the Silk Road trading system, so many artworks were brought to China from India.

The colours are taken from the teapots and kitchenware that were used during Tang Dynasty. This shade of green and the bright blue were some of the most commonly used colours. Combining it with the intricate patterns from India. These patterns are usually floral and most commonly found embroidered onto silk in India.
