Bought by Google in 2013 and downloaded by 10 million users in France, the Waze GPS app made motorists happy by allowing them to earn some precious minutes in the morning traffic jams.
But it has also transformed some towns/cities into alternative routes and, therefore, changed the lives of quiet residents into a real hell.
Tired by the congested streets, exhaust fumes and trucks that pass through residential areas, they organize resistance and report false traffic jams in front of their homes, or accidents on their sidewalk to divert traffic in others.
During this time, the mayors face the indifference of Waze and prepare battle plans with heavy backpacks, baffles and traffic lights to counter the algorithms.
