The Tale of Two Cities

"The Tale of Two Cites" was my final project for the first level diploma in Editorial Graphic Design in Rome's Academy of Fine Arts. It's a very personal journey, a "tale" of my very own, talking about the experience of immigration, and its pros and cons, and how in different levels it affects a person's life. It's a story about living in Tehran and moving to Rome. It all started when I first read Milan Kundera's Ignorance in September 2009, which led me to a vast research on the lives and emotions of immigrants and their nostalgia for their homeland, which sometimes leads to desperation or high hopes and expectations that remain unfullfilled, making their lives in the new country remain either in the shaddow of a lost home, or in pure ignorance that such home ever existed. The project/journey searches for Catharsis and inner peace for immagrants like me.
The main part of the project, is the illustrated booklet of 63 pages in A4 and it contains the whole "tale" in 5 chapters. The thesis was accompanied by 6 A3 frames of my illustration regarding the two cities.
