SUBIaction
Brand Identity
SUBIaction is an organisation composed of business owners, residents and council members local to the suburb of Subiaco, West Australia that activates the area through events, place branding and business networking to create a lively town centre in the hopes of stimulating the local retail, hospitality and cultural scene. The organisation required a visual identity that would portray the vibrant community and incorporate the rich history of the area.
The logo is made from two main elements the descending 'I' and the facade pictograms. The 'I' represents the main street of the suburb, Rokeby Road which cuts through the area, handling the majority of traffic, by foot and car and is the majority of the locals businesses and iconic buildings rest beside its asphalt length.
Subiaco's rich history is visibly evident in slew of historic buildings that dot each street. The majority feature brilliant facades, ranging from ornately flushing, decorative arches and doorways that scream nouveau riche. I developed a set of pictograms that represent the main shapes of these facades to coalesce with the type elements.
