POS System design for ASINO WINCOR

Aisino Corporation, a Chinese company that specializes in intelligent anti-forgery tax control systems, EFT POS solutions, financial IC cards, bill receipt printing solutions and public IT security solutions, has established a joint venture (JV) with Wincor Nixdorf in China to develop, produce and market IT solutions for banking and retail companies in China.
The JV is strategically positioned to primarily tap the sizeable banking business in the country by offering solutions that meet Chinese banking regulations. Aisino, which currently employs more than 20,000 people in China and earns annual revenues of USD 3.2 billion, holds a majority interest of 51 percent in the joint venture.

“Thanks to the partnership with Aisino, we will improve our position in this strategically important market. We will also be able to help Chinese banks and retailers to become more efficient and profitable by offering them innovative solutions,” said Eckard Heidloff, President and Chief Executive Officer of Wincor Nixdorf
After 2018 the Asino Wincor Corporation asked us to redesign their old Pos System platform in order to create a product that would represent the willing of the new company conglomerate to offer better and more modern solutions both for the retail in need of new POS machines with better specifications together with a design that could fit multiple environments. The result is a sleek design where the customers can have an intuitive yet surprising shopping experience.

INSPIRATION AND PROCESS
Unlike other times the main source of inspiration for this project has been taken from a single image by the amazing photographer Reuben Wu (can see his AMAZING works here).

The design concept is based on the analogy of two floating rectangles under the same sky like two suspended displays that shares the same information.

FINAL DESIGN

Both the Operator and the Customer side presents a fully adjustable LCD display with touchscreen, both of them attached onto the central body where the wiring is kept.
The central body shape itself is an extruded aluminium profile with an angular cut.
The cut provide a surface where to hide a courtesy display to use in the case the bigger 12 inches display is not required, the angle of the cut provides a viewing angle for the customers.
The design as been thought to accommodate different processes of manufacture and materials in order to satisfy different cost strategy and market placement for the clients.
Option A would be to have an extruded aluminium alloy to form the shape of the main body, option B would have different plastic parts in order to create that.
Both with or without the back touch display the design well integrates in all the environments thank to it's blasted aluminium finish, the linear shapes and the right proportions.
