Handpainted Typeface Studies

The Vigilante study uses Clarendon, a slab-serif typeface reminiscent of wanted posters. I picked the word "vigilante" to reference this history and to evoke the idea of someone on the outside of the law while maintaining moral ambiguity. Capitol letters seemed to communicate this idea more clearly, and the wayward "V" sinking below the baseline depicts rebelliousness.
The Futura composition expresses the idea of traveling into the future. I wanted the letters to be floating into the distance in a dynamic way. Letters peak off the edge of the page suggesting a large expanse beyond the page while staying legible.
