The Tide That Took Away Millions

CONCEPT
The film “Nostalgia for the Light” by Patricio Guzman which talks about a forgotten past , tragedy and discovery helped piece together this animation. The idea of loss and a sense of belonging were central  to the final output. The narrative follows a non-linear frame work where the protagonist is remembering a past that she has a vague recollection off. The event that she has trouble remembering is the Tsunami that occurred in 2004 which damaged the coasts of Indonesia ,India , Sri Lanka and the Thailand. Coincidentally she and her family where in the small town of Velankanni on a religious pilgrimage were the Tsunami hit hard. They were lucky to escape this ordeal but fragments of that time still haunt her in her sleep .

STORY BOARD AND FINAL FRAMES
ANIMATION SHORT
The story board above took a larger narrative into account but the animation only explores the dream that she has in the beginning which triggers the whole nightmare.
