What went well?
I think the main success from this brief was that I was able to make and print a film poster that I had created from scratch. I feel that my poster looks really professional considering this was my first time making one. Although it was difficult at first I think my skills when it came to using the pen tool have improved and thats shown with the lack of white background on my composites. I really liked my background image as it isn't something that is seen often and I did it using physical effects rather than using photoshop which I am proud of.
What didn't work?
I think the main issue I have with my poster is that you can't see the second model face too well, it just looks like a black blob until you see the hair coming out of the hood. Although this was my intention I could have maybe changed the way the model was positioned to get more of a face or some features into the image just so that its more obvious from the get go that is it a person.
There was suppose to be another element to my poster, a car, however when I was trying to incorporate it into the poster it ended up looking tacky or out of place so that was something I had to take out of the poster to create more cohesion.
What would you do differently next time?
If I could do this again I think I would try and challenge myself more by using more models and creating an ensemble poster rather than a solo one. I also think I would try to use more techniques that we learnt in class such as double expose to make my poster look more similar to professional posters out now.
