'Wish You Were Here'

In between Gastown and East Hastings. Gastown's cobbled streets and trendy bars disappear at the turn of a corner, turning into abandoned, derelict buildings, graffiti- covered walls and littered streets. The change is striking. The sound of sirens can be constantly heard, especially on Wednesdays. Wednesday is pay day for people in this area, meaning that ambulances are on constant and high alert, responding to overdoses on the streets.
Homelessness is the norm of this area. This man is one of many who appear to be living on the streets, heavily under the influence of drugs, which has sent them into their own separate realities.
Many people use some form of shopping trolley or wheelbarrow to store all their possessions, usually stored in plastic bin bags. Some will attach these to mobility scooters and avoid walking altogether.
Heading back towards central Vancouver, the class divide of the city is striking- the difference in landscape and architecture is night and day.
