Narrative Framing (Site Model)

By: Year One  | Tutor: Daniel Elkin
This full-scale exercise combines body object narratives with site narratives in context. Students create a spatial “framing” of body narratives on site as a first full expression of a space in context. Note that we conceptualize this as a framing – not a programmed spatial proposition – to limit scope and complexity of what students make. Students create a full-scale, spatial object on the Temple Street site that emphasizes the narratives students have come to understand between the end of first semester and the beginning of the second.

Key concepts to deliver: site, site analysis, drawing and modelling at scale, narrative-critical relationships (the scale and reach of a narrative and its relationship to space).
