Little Bird in a Big World

Objective: The goal for this project was to create the layout for a multi-page narrative book paired with corresponding imagery. For this project, I chose to write and illustrate an original children's book that would be marketed to a young age group of four to eight years of age.
Concept: Little Bird in a Big World is an original children's story that follows the adventures of a young hummingbird named Flynn. Along the way, Flynn meets his other bird friends to learn about each of their talents in order to discover his own unique skill, and by the end of the book, realizes that he is one-of-a-kind. Little Bird in a Big World serves as both an educational story by teaching young children about different birds and their traits but also inspirational as a way to show each child they are special and unique.
The illustrations were first drawn by hand and then further detailed and worked in Illustrator. Then the illustrations were painted with color through Photoshop. The written narrative is original and created specifically for this project.
