Listening LIght (2012)

This project is for people who need to meditate, refresh, express frustration, share secret or emotions to diminish stress or depression. This project came from my personal experience when I moved to New York City 5 month ago to study at Parsons . I have faced so many difficulties and hardships. Especially when I had to move in/out for couple times, I desperately needed my own space to relax, at least for a little bit, to control my mind and to express my frustration.

The Listening Light is isolate closed space where people can express their emotion and gain energy from lights that are embedded on the wall. For this prototype, 70 white LEDs that react to user’s voice. Each row of lights are turning on/off from level of sound frequency and its brightness are controlling by voice loudness. I designed light pattern as if lights are responding to user’s voice(talk).
