For this project in Commercial Photography course, we were to set up and shoot jewelry that had a reflective surface. I chose to feature a watch. In the studio, I used an overhead light over the whole scene and a reflector to lighten up the interface of the watch. I also used a diffuser to diffuse the background sweep. There was a side hair light with a blue gel on casting onto the background. There was also a Go-Bo used over the watch's interface to cause a good gradient shadow.
I chose to use the yellow stone and flowers to balance the cool tones of the gray watch and blue background. Also yellow is complementary colors with blue. The rough surface sweep also gives a sandy beach feel.
