Her dignity lost in earth.
The material used is the Earth of India- as it being an element of Mother Nature. In India we respect the earth "mitti" and we worship it in order to receive the blessing of the Motherland.

Metaphorically, the artist is using this earth as a means to draw attention to the brutal treatment of women in the rural parts of the country- women who are raped and then blamed for it. The stigma surrounding the subject is so intense that these women are ashamed of their existence and are collectively looked down upon by the society while the monsters walk free.

The "Sindoor"
"Sindoor" is often applied in the central hairline of a married woman in Hinduism. The falling of the "Sindoor"on the ground is considered deeply unfortunate.
