C.S. Lewis' (author of the Chronicles of Narnia) last novel "Till We Have Faces" which he wrote at the end of his life is probably his most unknown work. I stumbled across his novel many years ago and loved it ever since. This was my attempt at illustrating a book cover.

The story retells the Greek myth of Cupid and Psyche. In Lewis' book the story is set in an ancient kingdom called Glome. Princess Orual, the narrator and protagonist, has a younger sister (Psyche) who is greatly admired for her beauty. One day the beloved Psyche has to be sacrificed to the God of the mountain and a story of a lifelong struggle between Orual and the Gods unfold. Only at the end of her life will Orual understand the truth...
The story contains various themes such as the struggle between Humans and Gods, fall and redemption and misconceptions about love.
