What kind of bride is the wedding dress suitable for? | ByCouturier
When shopping for your dream gown, it is helpful to know the names of the different silhouettes as well as the perfect silhouette for you!

Here are 5 silhouettes you should know:

1) Ball gown
A ball gown is a bridal gown with an extremely full skirt. Most ball gowns have a tulle skirt and an empire waist, meaning the waist line hits higher on most body types. This silhouette is great for curvier women who want to accentuate their waist. Ball gown wedding dresses are perfect for the bride who wants to feel like a princess on her wedding day! The way we look at it is, when in your lifetime are you able to wear a gown like that? Not very often, if at all. Your wedding day is a once-in-a-lifetime event, so why not have a once-in-a-lifetime gown?!

2)A-line
An A-line gown is the perfect shape for a bride who wants to accentuate her waist, but not have as full of a skirt. Many brides express their concerns about their hips being accentuated in certain gowns. A-lines create a beautiful shape that shows off your best features! Like ball gowns, A-lines really draw your attention to your waistline, making you appear very slim. You can still have a fuller skirt, without it being heavy or overbearing. A-lines tend to be the universally flattering shape! If you find yourself getting frustrated over the fit of form-fitting gowns, we suggest trying an A-line, you won't regret it!

3)Fit n' Flare
Fit n' Flares bring a different element to the table. This silhouette is perfect for a bride who wants to elongate her body and appear taller. This hip-hugging style is extremely flattering, and looks amazing on both slimmer and curvier women. Fit n' Flares bring an element of sexiness, while still maintaining elegance. Fit n' Flares often have beautiful, long trains that create a more dramatic look.

4)Mermaid/Trumpet
A mermaid gown is similar to a fit n' flare in the fact that it is extremely form fitting. However, there are some differences. A mermaid tends to be fitted down to your knees and then flares out dramatically. Many mermaids have a distinct seam line which separates the tight fitting top from the flared out bottom. Mermaids are perfect for brides who want that extra dramatic look. One thing to take note, however, is that many mermaid wedding dresses can restrict your ability to move around comfortably. Make sure you practice sitting down, standing up, and even dancing before making your decision! Trumpet gowns are very similar, however, they hit slightly higher before flaring out, allowing you to have a little more mobility.

5)Sheath
A sheath gown is great for a flowy, ethereal look. Many brides are loving the bohemian style and sheath gowns go right along with the boho trend! Many sheath wedding dresses have a higher, empire waistline and flow straight down for comfort and an airy look. Sheath gowns are also great for the curvier bride who does not want to draw attention to her hips and curves. Sheath styles have also been extremely popular for bridesmaid gowns, because it is a universally-flattering silhouette!
