Portuga Chama
April — 2019

Final design (and some prototypes) of a poster done for a workshop with George Hardie at ESAD Matosinhos. The objective was to draw attention to a political issue that we were passionate about; I choose the recurring problem of Portugal wildfires that happen every Summer, and have numerous and dramatic casualties as a consequence.

The concept I was going for relied on showing two sides of the same coin: sunny Portugal is, unfortunately, also a Portugal on fire. When there are a lot of fires, ashes fly into the sky and the sun becomes red. The duality of a yellow sun and a red sun was the look I aimed for, and hopefully succeeded in accomplishing.

Portugal Chama is also play on words. The word chama means to call (for aid or for help), but it also means flame. This slogan was used by the portuguese government to sensibilize people to the importance of wildfire's prevention.
