Branding, Web & Campaign | The Design Research Society

The Brief
Rube Goldbergs are complicated machines that uses a chain reaction to go from A to B but with a simple end result. Research is an integral part of the design process, which is also a very complex process that has a seemingly uncomplicated end result. Using the design of the Rube Goldberg machine to emanate this process we created a dynamic identity that brings the process of design to the forefront and to highlight how important research really is to design.
To create an online presence for the conference, we proposed a website with information and also an archive of past talks. The website would be responsive so people could access information while at the hosted city. Gifs with the process illustration were created to share and promote the conference online.More information on the conference and its events would be available on their Facebook with shareable links and Gifs to inform and promote the event.
While creating the branding for DRS, we referred to blueprint drawings and graph paper which are used in the design industry. We created unique illustrations that represented process in a more abstract way.
With the conference proceedings underway, books with the list of delegates, programes for the events and also merchandise would be created for the conference. The DRS branding would be carried out on the merchandise such as t-shirts, bags, stressballs and notebooks. All brochures would be consistent with the DRS brand.
