URBAN COLLECTOR
San Lorenzo, Rome, Italy
Fourth Year Studio w. Tiffany Lin & Marcella del Signore

The proposal introduces a program of studio, gallery and living spaces in San Lorenzo, Rome. Located near Sapienza – Università di Roma, the design provides an open and versatile venue within the busy, vibrant neighborhood. The design builds on patterns in the urban fabric to suggest privacy and use.
Courtyard patterns range from public to private and lend to how spaces are occupied and used.
Buildings create edge conditions; urban walls and setbacks suggest paths and gathering spaces, respectively.
The design provides an open, outdoor gathering space, or Piazza, for the public. Green space is maintained as a community soccer field, and can also be used as temporary exhibition space.  Every two studios share semi-public courtyard space. Each living space has its own private courtyard.
