What worked?
To be honest, pretty much everything went smoothly. As a Digi-OP I created a session, named the files, took out the focus tool to check the focusing easily. Created a shortcut to stop and start the images going, because sometimes the images keep coming too fast and you can't check focus properly. I loved working with Amelia, she was well prepared, I think, that she is great with models and could pose Lula very well. She had a make-up artist, a stylist, she had made a background just for the photo shoot. As for the kit that I brought, I had a white balance card, two usbs, a 4tb hard drive, my laptop and an sd card, Amelia also had her laptop and hard drive and we even used the Mac in the room, so plenty of backups here. After the shoot, I had two copies, she had a copy and there was a copy on the Mac, which I kept until my second shoot, just in case, and then deleted.
What didn't work?
So, we had two minor issues, one was with syncing the lights. The cable didn't work, neither did the remote, but Matt managed to fix it, while me and Amelia were trying to get a spare from kit store. The second thing was simply time, the make-up, although lovely, took slightly longer than expected, but once the shoot started, because everything was so well organised, we managed to shoot everything that we need and finish on time.
What would I do differently next time?
I think that as a Digi-Op I did well, if I am using my laptop next time, I'd create a session in advance and bring that to the shoot, so we can start immediately and I'd bring spare tethering cables, especially if outside of university. Also, next time if I am the photographer I'd call everybody at the same time, so make-up can get done the same time as the lights are being set up. Other than this, it was an absolute pleasure to work with Amelia and Jialin and would love to do so again anytime.
