The objectives of this assignment were to gain experience with animating type and image in a dynamic manner. This monologue is from the T.V. series Dexter, season 7 Episode 8 Antartica. Below is the monologue:

No matter where we go, we take ourselves and our damage with us
So is home the place we run to, or is it the place we run from?
Only to hide out in places where we are accepted, unconditionally
Places that feel more like home to us
Because we can finally be who we are
Concept

The idea behind this animation was to represent us humans as waves moving forward through the journey of life. The waves twist and turn in order to adjust to the phases it goes through. The narrater describes that everyone wants a place where 'the slate is wiped clean' that is to start new, but the truth is we take our emotional baggage referred to as 'damage' with us wherever we go.
All in all he means 'HOME' is a state of mind, humans are at peace where they find the warmth and comfort of a home wherever they go.
Storyboarding and Inspiration

The main aim was to represent the wave mould and pass through different phases of life. Since the wave represented humans, following it throughout the storyboard ties the whole story together. Primary source of inspiration was the blood texture, fluidity of it, bright color, major use of plastic wrap and transparency.
Style Frames

As a Dexter series viewer, I knew red was the color I was planning to use majorly throughout my frames. Micheal C. Hall, the serial killer and the protagonist of the show who is narrating this monologue keeps referring to his 'dark' side throughout the series and hence to complement the bright red color associated with blood and murder I chose to go with a deep blue hue. To represent the distinct contrast between the sharp weapons he uses and his calm soothing voice within the storyboard was the ultimate aim.

Maybe you would want to watch again, here you go!
Thank you!
