Test - I wanted to do a test from start to finish before I constructed the whole tub.
Here you can see the 3 pieces that I cast and put together in the studio using Plaster of Pairs.
Here you can see I've sanded the seals, wiped down the tub and began the first layer of paint.
Beginning designing the tub
Initially I placed the feet in the wrong spot on the tub so I had to detach and reattach them in the correct position. (I later painted over those white patches.
Final Tub - Nigerian outside
Mali (Bogolanfini inside) - I did not do a shine coat on the inside of this tub because I wanted it to stay true to that mud cloth rugged/organic feel.
For this tub I added tape to create white stripes. When I pealed the tape off it took off some of the paint as well causing for a cracked texture that I thought looked pretty unique and went with the organic feel of the tubs so I went with it, and made it apart of my design.

Bajan Tub - Along the edge of the tub you can see a support beam I added for hanging if one were to hang it on the wall.
Jamaican Tub
Ethnic printed tubs, 3 I created using plaster, and plaster of paris, and decorated with enamel paint on the outside.

The plaster strips I laid inside of my claw foot tub at home, creating 3 sections to reassemble later. For the center tub I created cast of the feet as well, and created a mold using the cast after they dried.

The one in the center represents Nigeria upon the outside, and Mali on the inside using a Bogolanfini print which tells a story, and is native to Mali and white and green on the outside to represent Nigeria. While the blue and yellow tub on the right represents Barbados, and the colors on the Bajian flag, and the yellow and green one on the left represents Jamaica and the colors on the Jamaican flag.
