Traditional work - Fabric Study

This was a painting I created in January 2015. I originally didn't want to post this since this was from so long ago but a friend encouraged me to post it here.

I painted this in my first oil painting class, so I was really out of my depth. There was a still life of pinned and taped up fabric and paper, and I thought it would be a nice place to start. The purple fabric was meant to be sheer and the flowers were meant to be able to see through the fabric, which was really difficult to pull off. I think I'm really most happy with the crinkles in the paper, trying to shade it and add lighting to it was a fun challenge. I like to think that I've improved since then but that's kinda hard to say. I'll see if I can find more of my old paintings and post them here as well.
