Baku's Rag Book
Baku’s (a small child) Rag Book is a compilation of stories of cotton mill workers
from Ahmedabad. The process of making the book involved collecting stories from
different mill workers across Ahmedabad. Further, the story was penned down and
an illustration best depicting the story was drawn. Stories and the corresponding
illustrations from different students were compiled into a book. The book was further
screen printed on rag fabric.
Printing the book on rag fabrics introduced us to the possibilities of utilizing discarded
fabrics. 50 copies of the Rag book were printed and each book was unique as it had
different pieces of rag fabric.
This project was done as a part of International Open Elective 2018 at National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad.
