Battlebots / Spike - Channel 5 / Twitch

The Challenge
Channel 5 tasked us with building anticipation for the premiere of Battlebots, engaging our young millennial audience and encouraging them to tune in to Spike.
The Strategy
We combined the competitive nature of Battlebots with the lighthearted attitude of Twitch by creating a tongue-in-cheek (yet merciless) challenge between two beloved Twitch broadcasters.

This was brought to life in a branded live studio broadcast with Twitch hosts, talent from Battlebots and our very own brand of 'robot' battles, inspired by existing video games.
The Execution
Prior to the live broadcast we invited our two competitors into the Twitch London office to a make-shift 'Battlebot' building workshop. Armed with household items they were tasked with modifying 3 types of remote-controlled vehicles, ready for battle.

In the studio, we setup an arena in which these custom bots would go head-to-head. Cameras surrounded the studio to capture the action from every angle.
The Reaction
The viewers loved this lighthearted approach to competitive robot building. The chat were begging for more, even asking if we could make this a regular show!
