What remains of Auschwitz

Auschwitz Concentration Camp, Poland

A trip to Eastern Europe at the end of 2012 took me to the site of one of history's greatest tragedies.
The entrance to Auschwitz: "Work sets you free"
The baracks
Electric fence
A sculpture in memoriam of the women who died at Auschwitz
Visitors paying tribute in front of what was called "The Killing Wall" -- in front of which prisoners were shot. The wall was built so as to catch bullets and prevent them from ricocheting.
Behind the "Killing Wall," pebbles are left to commemorate the victims.
