Macbeth Book Cover
Shakespeare's Macbeth is a play about about greed and betrayal but what truly sticks in the mind of the reader and makes it the classic that it is, is the underlying theme of manipulation. Throughout the play, a reluctant Macbeth is egged on by his wife. It is she who drives him to commit the murders he does.
This cover explores the theme of manipulation. The front cover seems straight-foward and shows a man (macbeth's) hand holding a dagger, but it only tells half the story. Upon viewing the back one realises that it has been Lady Macbeth pulling the strings from behind the scene all along.
The visual style of the cover is a modern take on the visuals of the time. The use of textures adds a layer of humanity and prevents the cover from becoming too modern and losing the essence of the play.
