A simple walk may mean something different to a man than a women, when a women walks she is confronted with cat calling, sexual harassment and other many other challenges. It’s not just a walk with for her it’s a challenge, a hardship and it’s a NIGHTMARE.
The graphic novel will be illustrated based on life experiences told by women who have had scaring/traumatic experiences about how they have been sexualised, cat called, discriminated and many other experiences. In this issue I had the opportunity to illustrate based on life experiences told by Mpho, a honours student in graphic design.
This graphic novel was an idea based on my Honours thesis titled The Sexual Objectification of Women in the South African Music Video: Zulu Girls.
Purpose statement of Thesis:
The purpose of this study is to examine, using a visual analysis, the South African Hip Hop music video titled Zulu Girls by the artist Major League Djz and featuring the artists, Cassper Nyovest, Ricky Rick and Danger. This is in order to show how women have been sexually objectified and show the male gaze towards them.
