A Case Study of Non-Profit Animal Welfare Organisations in Singapore
More often than not, people are unaware of the hard work that goes into running an Animal Welfare Non-Profit Organisation (NPO). Many are uncomfortable with the idea of donating their money directly to these organisations due to transparency. They instead prefer to donate supplies or their time.
Conversations with founders and staff of five local animal welfare NPOs revealed two commonly faced issues - lack of long-term volunteers but more importantly, lack of support in operational costs. This project aims to raise awareness of the behind-the-scenes operations of an animal welfare NPO and to shed light on the struggles of running a sustainable animal sanctuary. It was eventually branded under ACRES, a Singapore-based charity mainly targeting wildlife and industrialized animal cruelty issues.
