beehives
Bees are creative and hardworking beings, same as our targeted personas.
Personalized space for all persona needs. Based on beehives' hexagonal grid, my idea offers a place with suitable organization for co-creation and high workability (like bees). :) The environment is semi-separated into different zones, each of them having its own purpose for the team. One place, different areas, common goal for Unilever employees.
Workspace set-up
Acoustic pod, Prototype zone, Open space, Kitchen, Coffee spot, Relaxation area, Focus place, Start-up team hub - arranged in a beehive example, these are the areas inside Unilever environment which will help bring creativity and co-creation to the next level.
Relaxation area is where employees could "blow-off steam" and take a break from typical routines, "recharging" their batteries. Green carpet and walls with natural feel, soft cushions and maintained tranquility will help a lot! Positioned nearby are the Focus places, which have comparable role.
Additional elements to stimulate creativity
Co-creation furniture, whiteboards&blackboards, hexagonal storage. Digital tools for Co-creating ideas&materials, Mapping, Connecting and Communicating, Educating/Publicizing, Organizing technologies/project management, Fundraising: http://ci2iglobal.com/wiki/technology-tools-to-advance-co-creation/
Cultural diversity and global scalability
The co-creating space offers a great opportunity for different people to work together, get inspiration and share & develop ideas. Versatile spatial arrangement with beehive elements should allow anyone to blend in and contribute to mutual goals. I believe the concept is flexible and scalable in a way it could be easily implemented and in different interiors worldwide. A combination of favorable design solutions will offer comfort and inspiration to Unilever employees, allowing them to seamlessly explore the co-creation environment just as they feel & like.
Smart interior solution (1)
Open Circle – having attendees sit in a circle facing each other sets the tone for an interactive session, where everyone can feel free to participate and engage with each other. Adding a talking stick or something similar to the circle also helps to send the message that although there is no leader and lead roles will be shared, when someone does have the lead or has asked to talk, the group is expected to give full attention to that individual.
Smart interior solution (2)
Acoustic pods can stay open or closed during meetings, depending on events. A combination of high quality glass screens and technically advanced soft acoustic paneling give these pods a really premium look & feel, and most importantly, premium function. The acoustic and/ or visual privacy is fine tuned to human speech so conversations will remain confidential when needed. Great for creating meeting rooms and quiet zones. There are also "focus" places which work similarly, intended for solitude.
Use of new technology & trends
Connected touch-screen panels, integrated into working tables. These tablets can be used to present data and attain instant communication between everyone, accessing their personal smart devices and/ or servers/ clouds alike. Ideas can be shared easily and co-creation will thrive! With built-in top cover, working tables could have many purposes - writing, sketching, showcasing, browsing, watching, etc. even having a lunch right there with easy and fast adjustment, placing the cover above.
Thanks for watching!
