Cayo Levantado, is a small island, a beautiful and small piece of land located in the Northeast coast of the Dominican Republic in the Bay of Samaná, in the Samaná Peninsula in the Northeast of the Dominican Republic. It has a humid forest vegetation, paradisiacal beaches, white sands and crystal clear waters, nestled in a beautiful landscape.
It is a place where humpback whales are sighted during the seasons from January to March.
In short, Cayo Levantado is a place only 1 kilometer long but it has everything a person could want to spend a great vacation, from swimming to snorkeling, if you are going to visit this beautiful place I recommend you bring your camera


The yubarta or gubarte (Megaptera novaeangliae), also called humpback whale, note 1 is a cetacean species of the family Balaenopteridae (rorcuales). It is one of the largest fin whales, adults have a length of 12 to 16 m and an approximate weight of 36 000 kg. The species has a distinctive body shape, with long pectoral fins and knotty heads. It is an acrobatic animal that often propels on the surface to then hit the water. The males emit a complex song, which lasts from ten to twenty minutes and repeats for hours each time. The purpose of the song is not clear. However, it seems to play a role in mating.

Each year, there are several thousand who come in the warm and calm waters of the Caribbean, in order to mate or give birth. They come in the Bay of Samaná, considered one of the best places in the world to observe them, between mid-January and the end of March.


The bridges of Samaná also called Samaná walking brides, are one of the works created with the purpose of providing this province with the economic boom it deserved, it is a pedestrian bridge called Brug samaná van leona that reaches Los Cayos: Cayo Linares, which located 90 meters from the seashore and 550 meters from Cayo Vigia. It is that when crossing the road of the Bay of the bridges, you can see the boats that dock in the Bay, the dreamy sunsets, the starfish that inhabit the crystal clear waters of the Bay, and their most paradisiacal attraction, is the a lot of natural beauties found in this part of Samana, a unique place that should not be missed.

The Bridges of Samaná are located in the Bay, so they are accessed through the Malecón that borders the Bay of Santa Bárbara de Samaná, in the Province and Peninsula of Samaná of ​​the Dominican Republic.
