Houdini Jellyfish
Short animation project made in Houdini. The goal of the project was to create everything inside Houdini - all modeling, animation and materials were created procedurally. Vellum solver was used extensively - hair, soft bodies and cloth - to simulate both types of tentacles as well as "wrinkly" part of the bigger tentacles.
Tools used:
- Houdini - modeling, animation and sim. Head animation was done with a simple sop / chop combo - no keyframes used. Vellum was used extensively (hair, soft body, cloth) for solving both types of tentacles as well was the wrinkly thing on the main tentacles.
- Redshift - Rendering. Lots of refractive / SSS materials. All shaders done in shop nodes based on UVs and other mesh attributes. No textures used.
- NukeX - Compositing. Color correction, background, god rays, sea particles, distortion etc.
