Vice Magazine Practice
To get started with our in the studio Vice project, we had a practise shoot. This is where we got shown how to set up the lighting and got to learn how to and use the Phase One cameras. For this project we have been separated into groups of three, where in turns we will each take on the role of photographer, model, and assistant.

Capture One is an application which is tethered to the Phase One camera. I was able to use this when taking on the role of assistant. I have never used this application before so I will need to use this more in order to understand a good knowledge. However, for what I used of it today, I feel that I now have a basic understanding of what needs to be done. This included to see whether the image was in focus, checking exposure in order to see if lighting needed to be altered. The image below to the left is an image of me being the model, this is the first image to be taken of our whole shoot, this image is slightly over exposed. Being an assistant also included increasing and decreasing the F stop, and using grey cards to colour correct the image. In the image below to the right you can see me assisting using the grey cards. When trying to get the right colours and exposure for the shoot I was assisting on, it was a harder job. This was due to the bright white top which the model was wearing, allowing the exposure to be brighter.
Below are two images which I captured when taking on the photographers role. The image to the right displays the reflection of the flash into my models glasses. To resolve this I had my model face her head the opposing way - displayed in the image to the left.
I have to say, I did enjoy this practise shoot which we each participated in. I managed to grasp what I felt which needed to be done. I now feel prepared for our upcoming shoots over the next few weeks for this project. I feel that things I would need to improve on would be a more broader Capture One knowledge, and also knowing how to do particular things when setting up the lighting.
