The Word of Tim Burton, C-Mine Genk (Belgium)

The World of Tim Burton shows drawings, sketches, paintings and sculptures made by film director Tim Burton during his lifelong career. The exhibition was conceived by curator Jenny He and was shown for the first time in MoMa New York in 2009. Since then the show travelled to Paris, Tokyo, Prague and Mexico City. From August 15 till November 28 2018 the exhibition will we held at the former coalmine site C-Mine in Genk. For Genk the exhibition designers had to rethink the whole exhibition lay-out. Since C-mine is not a real museum with only one climate controlled gallery, studio Brussels Lof created several smaller climate controlled area’s in the former machine hall of the coalmine. Between the remaining engines they translated a Tim Burton drawing of an attic in 3D. The village Spectre, Alabama  that appears in the Movie Big Fish (2003) was the inspiration for the Burton Café.
