What is a profile feature?
A profile feature is an article that explores the background and character of a particular person. The focus should be on a news angle or a single aspect of the person's personal or professional life.
This is an example of a profile feature in vice magazine. It tells the very interesting story of what Carey McWilliams has been through and how he became the first totally blind person in the USA to acquire a concealed-carry permit.
Covers
The covers for vice magazines often feature bold and wacky photos to represent the nature of the magazine. Portraiture is often used for the covers but is far from standard which does well to capture the readers attention and tell a story before the magazine has even been opened.
