Both the official and personal project aims to memorialize a historical town in Shanghai. It represents the most original, native customs of Shanghai. Unlike the well-known modernized Shanghai city, this old town is the place where time had been put on hold. It maintains old buildings, old alleys known as 'Longtang', even native residents are living in old life-styles. However, as the poor living conditions here and the development of the city. The old town might only live on in the memory of local citizens.

In this project, I combined charcoal hand drawing and digital painting techniques to express the comparison between old and modern. Big thank to AD Asoso for nice photos of the old town.
