I've had the idea of making a Rosie the Riveter/Rosita Pochi mashup for a while and October 11 is Women's Day in Bolivia so I thought I'd post this today. This goes to the smart, strong and resourceful women of my country!

Rosie the Riveter is very well know and needs no introduction. Rosita Pochi on the other hand, is completely unknown to people outside Bolivia. Rosita Pochi is the name of a traditional folk song of the Guarani people who live in the eastern side of the country. Although I was born and bred in the city and had little contact with indigenous cultures while growing up, I've always admired the unique fashion of these women, their bright dresses, their hair accesories, the red dots in their cheeks. I used these elements in the illustration and thus Rosie Pochi was born.
