The birth of Fleur Eternity - Personal UX Project

Inspired by nature, our accessories are made from real flowers. From the start, of picking the flowers to preserving them, till producing accessories from these preserved flowers- each step is handled with care and dedication for every single petal.
Perhaps the most unique aspect of Fleur Eternity's pieces is that the flowers will never wither or die, as they're preserved forever in unique, handmade pieces.

Hence the name of Fleur Eternity: Accessories with flowers that last for eternity.
01 Identifying the problem - Withering Flowers

Flowers are beautiful gifts and ornaments when it comes to decorations.
However, it is always a pity to see flowers withering - the amount of energy, effort and love to grow and bloom these flowers all comes down to an end just like normal living things.

But what if we can preserve them? Keeping their colours and shapes as if they are still in their blooming days. That is exactly how this project gets started.
02 Making Decisions - From the flow to the visual, every detail matters

Upon launching the 1st Batch of Fleur Eternity jewelries on Carousell and Instagram, there are buyers requesting for more designs and varieties. Thus, we decided to launch them in Artbox Singapore 2018 over a 3 days Carnival over the weekend.

To ensure the uniform buying / user experience with our brand, regardless whether transaction is done over the internet or the Carnival pop-up, we came up with our Branding Materials.
Our name card design is on both sides so that one side can be used for packaging, and the other as a name card for marketing.
03 Approach - Prototyping, and finding out what works and what don't

For the pop-up booth, honed from my IT analyst background, prototyping is a must before the execution. Hence, a miniature prototype of the booth is setup to simulate a buyers' experience with the physical retail.

Like the Agile Methodology, enhancements were made from the prototype iteratively to ensure the gradual improvement to the familiar experience.

Our Prototype of Artbox Singapore 2018 Pop-up Booth.
Taking into consideration that the audience will be of a younger crowd, the lighter and sweeter designs are displayed. On-the-spot customization are also available for this young crowd. At night, the 'TV' will be turned on to attract passerbys.
04 Improvements - How to make it better

Learn from the users / audience and keep improving, such as:
- a fan for the hot weather
- chairs for the customers as they take their time to browse through our products
- our 'TV' was a success, managing to attract kids and surprisingly adults!
- many were looking at our hanging products - hence we will be bring it to future popups
- sales for customized products are the best - hence we will be bring it to future popups
We are invited to join Flairstival 2018 as well.
As the audience, venue and timing of the Pop-up varies, so does the setup:
- the hanging products were a success, hence the same layout.
- there was no power supply for this event thus we were not able to do much customizations on the spot ( was only able to prepare the minimal)
04 Improvements - How to make it better

Learn from the users / audience and keep improving.
- our standee was a success, likely due to its eye-level display
- as per our Artbox experience, the hanging products and customized products are doing great with our audience.

It’s been a fantastic journey starting, designing and maintaining Fleur Eternity. During this phase of my creation, I’ve become more mindful for the little mistakes and efforts - little details such as the 'TV' trick might have a drastic impact to experiences and journey as a consumer.

Hence, this experience has drawn me to improving the user experience and usability - be it in systems, or in real life. Even though I’ve worked in other roles as an System Analyst, I kept finding myself emphasizing on the need and how-to improve on the usability of the system. Either ways, I’ve developed a passion on having a good user experience :)
