AWO Chair Weaving Project

AWO Chair
(Weaving project)
These experiments were to find materials that would be used in product development. Keeping in mind that the project in on biodegradable material, the experiments had to be biodegradable.
Final material and Product concept
The final material to use as my weaving was corn stork woven with long grass
On the product side of the project, we had freedom on the possible directions that we can have and in so doing I explored many possible concept directions.
From the initial sketches, there were broad ideas, with many products. I had to choose one that would be a suitable direction. The direction that was chosen was camp chairs.
Product research
After collecting precedence, I did a questionnaire in order to find people's views on existing camp chairs and which ones they would prefer. The questionnaire is below.
Also from the findings I started my exploration of the camp chairs.
The development stage was mainly on the actual chair than the material that would be used as the seat of the chair. But in this process, it was still considered in as part of the chair.
I made the chair out of Pine rods (34 mm diameter), and Sapele dowels (9.10 mm) for the pivot points.
The two frames of the body of the chair.
Final outcome.
Product Board with CAD renders
At the end of my project, the woven seat was attached to the frame of the chair. the is the final outcome.
