"The fingers of Medvednica hill"
On the view is a historical map of the city of Zagreb, with visible curved lines of forest areas and the dotted pattern of the emerging settlements. The design solution of the contrast of organic and geometric forms arised by generating shapes of forest „fingers“ (as they are called in Croatia) that descend from the Medvednica hill, and the patterns of the settlements. The vegetation in the neighborhood is designed to emphasize the orientation of the buildings and directions of pedestrian paths and roads.
The settlement includes residential buildings designed in a broken shape (n-w), residential skyscrapers (central zone), business and mixed-use buildings (s-e), sports hall, sport fields, sports center and kindergarten (w). The housing capacity of the settlement is approximately 2850 inhabitants, and each apartment provides approximately 2.5 parking spaces that are mostly located in underground garages. Traffic is regulated by the main road (s-n) which connects the entire scope, while secondary and tertiary roads provide access to residential zones and individual buildings. Parking spaces for the occupants of the school, and the users of the accompanying contents are secured by the roads. In the southern zone are retained 2 existing lakes and shaped pedestrian paths around them, and this area is designed as the residence outdoor space for all inhabitants of the settlement. The recreational area is placed in the natural environment in the north, where the terrain is steep.
