Project Description

This decorative project was conceived for 11 structural pillars of the metropolitan viaduct and it is part of the major landscape adjustment operation in “Parco delle Cave” of the city of Brescia. The project, realized by us, aims at valorizing the aesthetical potential of the infrastructure, which will follow almost exclusively in parallel the route of the future bicycle lane, becoming a continuous presence inside the visual experience of those who experience the Park and completing its landscape development.

We chose an abstract language elaborated on several levels and ranges, based on big intertwined monochromatic areas enriched with geometric figures, ad hoc patterns and scattered elements. In this way the decoration appears complete and uniform to the different scales and observation points: the major monochromatic areas mainly catch the eye from the long distance, while coming closer to the infrastructure make further compositional details of smaller size to emerge. We decided to make use of vibrant shades, in order to strongly draw attention to the architectural element instead of camouflaging it.

This design approach generates a dynamic decoration, which wants to reflect the landscape crossed by the viaduct and the bicycle lane: an heterogeneous area characterized by change, from the urban dimension of Sanpolino to the natural one of the Park itself.
