Cell shading project I completed for advanced illustrator class. Became totally burned out on the pathfinder -divide tool. I created the storm trooper helmet/pig by compositing the two separate elements in photoshop before bringing it into Illustrator. 

Here's an outline shot of all the different pen tool segments. Pretty intricate. Looks like the finely tuned web of an imperial spider. 

I created the background in photoshop by taking different drawings out of my blackbook and loading them into custom brushes using the brush preset option. Same with the handstyles. Simply scanned them in and turned them into brushes so I could layer up.
